Tell us more about what you’re doing now
My current role is Business Strategy Manager in Retail Banking area. Together with the strategy team, we are responsible for lending products for individual clients’ results. Our team’s responsibilities are meeting sales targets, pricing strategy and lending products communication. The proposals we develop relate to company’s overall objectives. We aim to differentiate ourselves in the market with digital & relevant lending solutions and transparent communication, thus making ING the bank used and loved in the local market.
How was your journey since joining ING International Talent Programme?
I joined the program in February 2019 in the Retail Banking area. In the beginning, I had a series of assignments in different departments to learn more about ING Bank’s clients and products. One of the areas where I contributed the most was Customer Engagement (strategy team) designing a proposal for a competitive FX that wasn’t approved in the first phase, but after involving more teams on that, we launched a final product to our clients. The other area was Lending (strategy team), where I contributed to a new product on the market – 7-year fixed-rate mortgage, a product supported by our management team, becoming a relevant product for our clients since its launch in December 2019.
During this time, I also wanted to explore other areas within the bank, outside the Retail Banking area so I had a 6-month assignment in the Finance department. There, I learned more about the internal & external reporting process, financial results analysis, and budget monitoring for all business lines. All these things were possible because of the openness and support I had in every team I was part of. There were many situations in which I had to overcome myself, but I always had the support of my colleagues.
After going through all the assignments, I decided to continue my journey in the Lending Strategy team.
Why ING International Talent Programme?
Initially, I was attracted by the exposure in different areas of the bank, both locally and globally. A decisive factor was the interaction I had with my future colleagues during the recruitment & selection process. Although at first, I applied for the Finance track, I got the proposal to join the Retail Banking team that turned out to be the best decision for me.
If you were to convince someone to join this experience, what would you say?
ING International Talent Programme is designed for those about to start their career and looking for a dynamic working environment. And you can get to know a banking company closely and choose what suits you best.
