The mission

As a Domain Architect Payments you will become part of the Payments Architecture team and you will work in close collaboration with ING business & IT stakeholders on the realization of our target Payment Strategy & IT Stack.

Key resposabilities

  • Design & document complex, secure and resilient systems which can cover business needs, consolidating multiple driving factors, using advanced knowledge of system design, analysis and development;
  • Work together with the teams to discover the best requirements, designs and architectures;
  • Maintain the current state architecture for the Payments domain;
  • Contribute to global solution designs so that they easily integrate Payments systems;
  • Facilitate simplicity, staying lean and helping remove/preventing waste;
  • Coordinate architecture activities for incremental changes (maintaining and extending existing solutions) and innovative changes (conceiving new solutions for emerging opportunities) for Payments domain;
  • Use different patterns and elaborate designs to cover the non-functional requirements especially on the resilience and performance areas;
  • Asses and select appropriate technologies from the many open source, commercial on-premises, and cloud-based offerings available;
  • Create flexible but robust designs that prepares the company for the future;
  • Deep dive into both new, cutting edge and legacy technologies helping build POCs and advising on best strategies;
  • Align with the reference architecture and central architecture team to create designs that satisfy the consumers of the Payments systems;
  • Work together with other domain architects and development teams for cross domain topics;
  • Design the technical solutions in the Payments domain that are consumed by different organizations;
  • Help in simplifying and consolidating the IT landscape;
  • Help prevent technical atrophy, technical debt and maintain technical currency through architectural governance;
  • Define and align architecture standards.

Requirements

  • Domain knowledge: understanding of payments products, market standards (ISO20022, TIP rulebooks etc) and its business processes. 
  • Experience in working in a highly regulated environment where we need to comply to both global and local payments regulations 
  • You are able to translate requirements into well-defined target Architecture solutions taking into account all relevant dimensions: Business strategy & vison, IT strategy & vison, Architecture principles, non-functionals, security, operations, ...
  • You are able to develop Architecture roadmaps with the right sense of pragmatism i.e. go target where feasible and define transition Architectures where required ... all in an Agile context. This is all about defining islands of stability during our journey from the as-is towards the target state.
  • You can act as a problem-solver, you are not afraid of challenges. You can take a step back, turn challenges into solutions by making use of your abstraction, conceptualization & Architecture skills.
  • You have a good set of communication skills to deal & interact with the different types of stakeholders i.e. from business, over IT managers, to Solution Architects & implementation squads.
  • You are a team player that brings together all the required stakeholders to define end-to-end Architectures: from our customer/employee facing channels till the back-end payment processing.
  • As part of the Payments Architecture team you are able to work autonomously, as well as in team with other Architects dependent on the size & scope of your Architecture assignment(s).
  • Knowledge of Architecture framework(s) (TOFAG, IAF, Zachmann, ...) is a plus.
  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent
