The mission

The opportunity is for an IT Area Lead in the Network and Core Banking space. This area of almost 70 engineers is spread across multiple locations. As ITAL you will have cross border responsibility for the successful core IT delivery as well as end-to-end business services within the scope, as well as the continuous development of the managers and engineers’ part of the cross-border teams.

We are looking for an energetic manager with proven experience in productization of customer specific software to deliver our target architecture while partnering with the business in defining the business roadmap.

You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. Your technical leadership enables you to grow craftsmanship on the part of chapters in your area and to drive the recruitment efforts enabling talented engineers to start their journey with HUBS Romania.

As IT Area Lead you will prioritize and facilitate predictable delivery of software by squads in your area, including implementation of the IT security standards within ING risk framework for the assets you are responsible for.

Your day to day  

  • Working as a part of a global management team of IT Area Leads to ensure feasibility and delivery of Product Roadmaps in line with the Bank’s strategy and objectives. 
  • Owner of business and IT backlog, defining priorities, balancing out demand and supply, gguarding the balance between IT health (e.g. reliability, security, lcm, technical debt) and new business requirements
  • Responsible for the technical roadmap, looking ahead to future possibilities and translating them into long term strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and advise on the solution architecture and approach.
  • Growing craftsmanship on the part of IT Chapters in your area.
  • IT Custodianship of applications – this includes keeping IT Risk within Risk Appetite and a focus on resiliency where KPIs (like availability) and other Service Level Objectives are met. 
  • Managing capacity, delivery, and relationship with third party vendors
  • Managing budgets, contracts and working within the internal service and sourcing framework.
  • Aligning with Tech strategy of the bank to integrate relevant aspects into the product roadmaps.
  • Own the resilience agenda of the area
  • Work in partnership with the peer ITALs while building global capabilities.

What you bring to the team

  • Master of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent field is desired.
  • Experienced IT leader with 5+ years of experience in an IT management role.  
  • Knowledge of the full development stack and analytics will be handy to have. 
  • Vendor management both for software and consulting services is important 
  • Senior Stakeholder management skills are critical for success. 
  • Knowledge of banking and core banking products is a big nice-to-have. 
  • You are passionate about growing and developing technical people. 
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.  
  • You love technology and naturally stay up to date on relevant new developments. 
  • You value a multi-cultured environment where English is the working language, and you easily get on with people from different cultural backgrounds.
