Walk us through your career path in ING (from your first role to the current one)
It was the summer of 2010 when I entered the ING Head Office on Kiseleff Boulevard (back in the days); I started as an Information Security Administrator. 8 years passed and I developed from being a Coordinator to Team Leader and then to the Security Manager for many teams in the information security area.
Now I am the Security Manager in the Security Department and I manage a lot of processes, such as the users administration, monitoring, cryptography, physical and personal security. Just to name a few of the latest projects that we are working on, I would say the global active directory migration to a unique domain across ING and the new Blue Rose Office Park project –we will move there in 2019; we aim to create a new, comfortable and safe home for us.
How it Life @ ING? (especially from a learning experience point of view)
We have many projects going at the moment and taking into consideration that we are a digital bank, all the projects are innovative in this manner, and this is not an understatement. In my opinion, global projects are the most interesting, because they give you the opportunity to see a different approach than the regular ones.
How would you explain your role as a Security Manager to a 7-year-old?
I would use the same analogy as I give my son: “Daddy is the one that makes sure that the Lion is safe (he always sees the ING logo standing on my office building and he knows I works there).” :-)
If you were to recommend ING to a friend, what would you say about the organisation?
ING is not just a regular workplace. Here, each colleague can optimize the working processes and set one’s stamp on the work. We want to develop the best products for our clients and to offer them the nicest experience and hopefully they will become standard in the banking industry. But first, we implement all sorts of innovative processes.
If you were to save the world with an app…
It would be an app that offers gratification for each environmental gesture. The humankind takes a lot from the nature, but usually forgets to give something back.
Let’s say you wrote your first SF book. What would you call it?
"Atlantida 2200" – the story of an evolved civilization that managed to eradicate everything bad by fostering intelligence and common sense.
