The newly created Sustainable Solutions Group (SSG, a merger of Sustainable Finance and the Sector Sustainability Leads teams), drives the overall sustainability strategy of the WB within the Sector Coverage organisation.
Within SSG, the SSG – Technology, Media, Telecom and Healthcare (SSG-TMT&H) team is responsible for the strategic and commercial Sustainability direction of the TMT&H Sector Coverage team. The SSG-TMT&H team drives the client engagement (both from an opportunity as well as risk perspective), net zero steering and ESG risk appetite within the Sector.
The Role is posted in NL, but can be fulfilled in other locations provided TMT&H and/or SSG has significant presence there.
The Team
The SSG Sector lead is responsible to build and manage a functional team of 2(+) FTE. The SSG Sector Lead will functionally report to the Global Head of SSG and hierarchically into the local Sector Lead TMT&H and be part of both the SSG and TMT&H management teams to ensure global coordination on the sustainability agenda and steering into the Sector.
Key responsibilities
Integral responsibility to implement the sustainability strategy of WB into the TMT&H Sector team. Develop and implement the sector specific sustainability strategy, on climate alignment, the commercial client strategy, ESG risk appetite and sector specific reporting
Strategic client engagement: support Sector clients in their transition and enhance the strategic dialogue with WB clients by leveraging on our sustainability pioneering position. Identify opportunities for origination and structuring of Volume Mobilized (MBB KPI) for the Sector (transition opportunity). Work closely with SSG team members in the various countries or regions to support local commercial opportunities. Also ensure that client engagement or lack of client or portfolio transition progress is addressed appropriately (transition risk)
Steer on ING’s climate targets. Contribute to continuous development and implementation of Sector Transition Plans and Client Transition Plans (CTP) and progress tracking. Participate or lead commercial opportunity or risk / impact workstreams on themes relevant for the Sector. Train and support relationship managers on these topics
As a voting-member of the commercial greenlight committee you ensure that new deal origination of the Sector is in line with our sustainability strategy. You can identify potential opportunities for Sustainable Product, you steer the ESG risk appetite and you dare to raise uncomfortable questions on client alignment with ING’s values and strategy
Knowledge and network building: Support/organise ESG related events/workshops relevant for your sector. Monitoring sustainability developments and actively represent ING externally in your sector. Create and manage relations with clients, experts, advisors and industry bodies

Strategic challenges
You challenge the status quo, drive sustainability agenda both internally and for clients. See the big picture and translate that for the sector. Upskill the front office community and get them onboard for the sustainability agenda. Translate complex new regulations, changing market demand, greenwashing risk etc to the Sector organisation. Keep alignment with the other SSG teams to ensure a consistent approach, on sustainable products, risk appetite and advocacy.

Your required experience
We are looking for an SSG Sector Lead who has a strong understanding of and affinity with both the TMT&H Sector and sustainability. Someone with a strong commercial drive to accelerate the transition of the Sector.
Education: University / Post Graduate in finance, economics, sustainability or engineering
Work: 10+ years work experience in the financial industry with strong relationship management skills, sector knowledge and and sustainability experience
Managerial Experience: preferably a proven track record to steer teams, but also open for first time managers
