The Domain 

The purpose of RBA (Retail Banking Analytics) is to drive advanced data analytics capabilities across overall Retail markets. All the use cases are divided into three main areas: lending, personalisation, and pricing. In each of the areas, there is a variety of products, e.g., recommender engine for campaigns, mobile customer churn, mortgage and landing pricing, and many more. In the coming years, RBA has the ambition to grow its offerings, and the team drastically. Therefore, we need to prepare the engineering landscape for such a load! 

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

We are looking for a Domain Tech Lead to join us in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for the products, architecture, and establishing the way of working and culture in your domain. Among others, you will be responsible for the co-creation of the RBA product roadmaps, establishing a “fast path to production”, steering the vision on components & architecture, ensuring tech implementations are according to the best practices and in respect of ING’s tech landscape, creating centralized domain knowledge, domain culture, and mentoring other (squad) Tech Leads.

How to succeed 

Minimum qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of working collaboratively in a semi-remote, globally distributed team.  

  • Demonstrated knowledge and strong understanding of relevant technology and product life cycles. 

  • Hands-on experience building complex data pipelines (e.g., in Apache Spark)

  • Strong programming skills in e.g., Scala, Java, Python, or Go.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices including Git, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability (ELK stack)

  • Strong understanding of container-based platforms and tooling including Docker. Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.

  • Experience in designing complex IT landscapes (including governance, standards, and methodology). 

  • Knowledge of software and data engineering best practices. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Curious mindset; you are collaborative and passionate about helping others to grow and improve. 

  • Experience with team supervision and guidance through coaching and mentoring. 

  • Experience in working in the banking sector is a plus. 

  • A customer-centric mindset, and capability to find the perfect equilibrium between strategic planning and practical execution.
