During the Financial Markets internship programme you will gain hands-on experience on one of our Financial Markets desks. You will be an integral part of a team, contributing to solutions from day one and learn how to provide flawless execution for ING’s trusted clients! The opportunity

Our Financial Markets internship programme is a full-time 4 to 9 month experience with a steep learning curve, consisting of one core positions with the possibilities to do mini rotations on other desks. The programme is an unique opportunity to get full insight into our Financial Markets franchise and provides you with a solid foundation and strong market knowledge. During the programme you will be an integrated member of our sales and trading teams and quickly familiarise yourself with our clients, products, and the market. Placement is matched to your skillset and our business needs.

From day one you will have the opportunity to join all the activities that our graduates follow, amongst others the continuous learning program that gives insights into various parts of ING.

 

About Financial Markets (FM)

Financial Markets (FM) is part of the ING Wholesale Banking, which represents all Corporate and Investment Banking activities of ING. We have a global footprint with local reach, deep sector expertise and we play a pivotal role in areas of sustainability and innovation.

FM is the bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. In short, we assist our clients with hedging risks by means of derivatives and we distribute bonds, loans, and equities towards investors. The client related business is supported by Structuring expertise and Trading liquidity. Our main goal is to help our clients navigate the markets to position them for growth.

Financial Markets Sales

Sales people provide both flow and highly bespoke solutions to clients. Clients can typically be categorised into three segments: Financial Institutions, Corporate and Mid-Corporate clients.

Rotation areas Financial Market Sales:

  • Corporate and Financial Institutions Origination Sales (multi asset sales: Credit, Rates, FX, Commodities, Rates, Equity Derivatives, Repo and Money Markets)
  • Execution Sales (execution of FM flow products for both corporate and financial institutions, multi asset)
  • Client Solutions Group (product experts Rates, FX, Equity Derivatives, Commodities)
  • Benelux Cash Equities Research and Sales (brokerage / research of Benelux listed equities)

 

Financial Markets Trading

Financial Markets trading manages market risk and covers for our client portfolio flow by interacting closely with the sales desks and other market participants. Trading manages portfolios of new and existing daily market risks.

Rotation areas Financial Markets Trading:

  • Interest Rates
  • Global Securities Financing
  • Sprinters
  • Credit Exposure Management (managing counterparty risk linked to derivatives)
  • Quants (develop models & tools that support our FM franchise)

 

About you. Do you have what it takes?

A Financial Markets Intern should have:

  • A bachelors degree or be in the final year of your bachelor program
  • Registered to a Dutch university
  • A passion for the banking industry and financial markets and have a comprehensive understanding of the current global economic landscape
  • English proficiency; fluency in Dutch is a strong advantage
  • A pro-active, enthusiastic, and professional attitude
  • Substantial part-time work experience and/or extracurricular activities will be a plus
  • Solid numerical skills and/or coding skills
  • Able to communicate your ideas in a concise manner

About the application process Applications are currently open on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The start of the programme is flexible and can be anywhere in the period February-May 2025. The minimum length of the internship is 4 months.
