You will be part of the team that provides market risk support to the Equity Derivatives trading desk in Amsterdam. The team is part of the Financial Risk Trading Risk Management (FR TRM) department.  FR TRM is a global department within ING CRO domain, responsible for product control and market risk management activities of the FM trading activities.

The core activities of the team are measuring and analysing the day-to-day Profit and Loss (P&L) generated by the trading desk and monitoring and advising on the market risk exposures that are taken in the trading books. The team works closely with the Front Office and colleagues in other locations, such as London, where the Product Owner (PO) is based for the Equity Derivatives asset class.

Roles and responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Producing a timely and accurate daily P&L and risk report with analysis as necessary, by providing pro-active advice to aid business management.

  • Able to provide in depth commentary that explains P&L in terms of risk factors and gives context to the evolution of market risk exposures in the trading book and demonstrate an understanding of markets developments.

  • Monitoring, analysing, and reporting the organisation’s market risk exposure on a day-to-day and long-term basis for the Equity Derivatives desk.

  • Closely follow market developments and analyse both the realised and potential impact on the trading portfolio.

  • Monitoring trading limits and reviewing transactions over the established limits.

  • Participating in monthly desk reviews with Front Office, on limit consumption, limit review and pro-active risk management topics.

  • Reporting quality improvements and liaising with other business and support areas to resolve issues.

  • Supporting the stress testing framework development (historical, hypothetical, and reverse stress testing) for the Equity Derivatives asset class

As a Financial Risk officer, you will also need:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Maths, Engineering, Finance, Economics

  • At least 3+ years market risk experience

  • Strong financial product knowledge and a sound mathematical background

  • To be a good communicator with attention to detail and able to summarise.

  • To be a team player that can work with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.

  • To be able to understand the business perspective of key projects for Front Office

  • To have a flexible approach to role and responsibilities

  • To be fluent in English

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working with complex technical processes and analysis of large data

  • Good communicator with attention to detail, pro-active, autonomous as well as ability to summarise.

  • Strong team player with ability to work successfully with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.

  • Programming experience (VBA, Python, SQL)
