The Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) strategy is focused on upgrading the commercial engine of Wholesale Banking on all capital markets and advisory products (mergers & acquisitions, debt advisory, corporate investments, debt capital markets solutions etc) that we offer to our Wholesale Banking clients. A key element in that strategy is to develop and retain talent. In order to achieve this, a structured career path – a global Early Careers Group (ECG) program – will be implemented for our junior staff (approx. 85 fte) in the Netherlands, to align with the global rollout of this program, already implemented in the US, UK, Germany and APAC.

The ECG program seeks to cultivate well-rounded CMA bankers, enhance employee engagement, and improve succession planning, aligning with ING's ambition to be the leading wholesale bank in Europe empowered by a global network and a top employer in the industry.

The ECG implementation will create a cohesive and efficient support system for our early career employees, fostering their development. All Analysts and Associates within CMA will fall within scope of the ECG program.

Your role

All future junior hires will be hired under the ECG structure and all current analysts and associates will be reporting to and coached by an ECG Leader, and depending on the size of the group, supported by one or multiple deputy ECG Leaders.

The introduction of a dedicated ECG Manager is pivotal to centralizing and ensuring stability of the ECG program. This (new) role will significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the ECG program, driving the professional growth of WB CMA junior employees.

As ECG Manager you work closely with the ECG Leader and, if applicable, his/her deputies, but also with business leaders in shaping, implementing and coordinating the ECG program.

We are looking for an ambitious and pragmatic team player to strengthen our team. As an ECG Manager:

  • You will provide a single point of contact for assisting managing all ECG employees and supporting the ECG Leader in the Netherlands.

  • You will streamline administrative procedures, oversee HR processes, and ensure compliance with training and diversity strategies.

  • You will support the ECG Leader in coordinating development programs, hiring process, rotations, and performance management.

  • You will foster a more cohesive and supportive environment for early career employees.

Your key responsibilities

  • You are responsible for building a strong relationship with the business (leaders);

  • You play a crucial operational and tactical role in successfully implementing the CMA ECG program;

  • You co-ordinate regular catch-up’s between the ECG Leader, CMA Product Heads in the Netherlands, sometimes including the ECG Leaders outside NL and you are co-responsible for the exchange of ideas (best practices and problem solving);

  • You are contributing to the approach towards attracting, retaining and recognizing key CMA junior employees;

  • You assist in building a Performance Culture together with the ECG Leader in using performance and talent management solutions to drive individual and team performance;

  • You help drive an inclusive and save environment;

  • You support the ECG Leader in developing and managing the budget (costs and FTE requests) allocated to the ECG program and obtain the necessary approvals from the local CMA Head.

In other words, you strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a fast changing and complex environment. You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative solutions to problems.

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

As ECG Manager you will also need:
