SRE Resilience Patterns Engineer

For our global Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team we are looking for a Expert Resilience Patterns Engineer. Together with this team you will be responsible to roll-out the global SRE practices to improve the reliability of ING’s critical services worldwide.

The team

The ‘Resilience by design’ team challenges & contributes to ING’s well-architected framework and underlying reliability patterns (as developed by Enterprise Architecture). Steers patterns to implementation; this includes design and/or development of conformity bots in the CI/CD pipeline, policy-as-code validations for infrastructure provisioning, conformity monkey or other ways to validate implementation in production and perform drift detection. Ensures proper documentation, training material and other ways to get the knowledge to our engineers across ING. Contributes as a reliability expert to key operational activities with a focus on services or incidents touching multiple Tech entities; this includes performing critical business service / critical chain reviews to identify weaknesses to be solved and supporting global major incidents (as expert), provide expertise to ensure high quality root-cause analysis and ensure follow-up of structural (architectural/design-related) findings with EA & tech domains

Role and Responsibilities

Your initial focus will be to challenge & contribute to ING’s (to be developed) well-architected framework and underlying reliability patterns (as developed by Enterprise Architecture)

• You operate in strong cooperation with involved Enterprise Architects, entity SREs & engineers

• You steer patterns to implementation; this includes design and/or development of conformity bots in the CI/CD pipeline, policy-as-code validations for infrastructure provisioning, conformity monkey or other ways to validate implementation in production and perform drift detection

• You contribute to documentation, training material, meetups and other ways to get the knowledge to our engineers across ING

You will contribute as a reliability expert to key operational activities with a focus on services or incidents touching multiple Tech entities:

• You perform critical business service / critical chain reviews to identify weaknesses to be solved

• You support global major incidents (as expert), provide expertise to ensure high quality root-cause analysis and ensure follow-up of structural (architectural/design-related) findings with EA & tech domains

How to succeed

• 10-15+ Years in software engineering and/or software architect roles

• Knowledgeable about technology in all levels in the technology stack (from infrastructure to front-end) with expert knowledge & hands-on experience on one or more levels (e.g. front-end & back-end development or infrastructure & CI/CD tooling).

• Tools:  ING Private cloud or Public cloud (Azure or Google cloud) and related VM/container stacks & tooling; application-level technologies & tooling heavily in use at ING e.g. spring boot; java / kotlin; pega; Lit-html; ING’s API SDK; Azure DevOps; or configuring/building out a CoTS solution within ING.
