Global Delegate Data Protection Officer – Risk Management - Bank Support Functions

As a Global Delegate Data Protection Officer – Risk Management – for the Bank Support Functions (BSF, including CEO, CRO, CFO, COO, CTO), you focus on managing and monitoring the data protection risks arising from (the) local and global processing of personal data within ING BSF. The Bank Support Functions cover global processes such as Human Resources, IT Technology and Infrastructure, Know Your Customer, Payments, Finance and Analytics.

The Data protection support of the Bank Support Functions, recently moved from Corporate Functions Compliance to the Data Protection Compliance vertical and will support Business management with data protection risk management.

The team

The Global Data Protection Risk Management Team is ING’s internal global authority on the area of data protection compliance risk management and is responsible for the global oversight of data protection risks and data protection risk management support of the Bank Support Functions. The team conducts compliance risk management activities, including monitoring, relating to Personal Data Protection and Record Retention Policies, processes, and solutions.

Together with the Data Protection Policy & Advisory team, the Global Data Protection Risk Management team forms the vertical Data Protection Compliance. You will work in the risk vertical Data Protection Compliance. Data protection is an important risk area with growing interest from both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Data Protection team is closely involved in the rapidly changing data ecosystems e.g. (Gen) AI.  

This role reports to Global Delegate Data Protection Officer – Lead Risk Management

Roles and responsibilities

As Global Delegate Data Protection Officer - Risk Management – for the Bank Support Functions (including CEO, CRO, CFO, COO, CTO):

• You are responsible for proactive monitoring and challenging global processing activities, processes, and practices to identify any actual or potential breaches of applicable data protection laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

• Depending on your ambition and expertise, you execute activities for one or more specific Bank Support Functions.

• Per BSF, you execute second line compliance risk management activities for the personal data protection and record retention risks and controls.

• You track progress and closure of remediation of data protection risks (MIA’s/issues), including specific projects or program with global scope.

• You contribute to quality of, and knowledge on compliance data protection risk management, monitoring, and reporting.

• You collaborate intensively with the Global Delegated Data Protection Officers that provide DPO advise to the Bank Support Functions.

• You monitor the quality of Data Protection Compliance related risk data, including issues and events in iRisk, the ING risk monitoring tool.

• You participate in (multi) disciplinary (project) compliance risk teams and contribute to ensure alignment with NFR, IT risk and data risk.

Your technical skills and track record

• You have 6 years+ professional experience with Data Protection activities and related non-financial risk management and/or audit preferably in a banking environment and you are familiar with security and IT ecosystems.

• You have relevant and profound knowledge on GDPR and, preferably, related internal ING policies.

• You have excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across functional and geographic lines.

• You have a university degree or equivalent knowledge/experience.

• You are excellent in English (verbal/written).
