Background
ING Wholesale Banking (WB) helps large corporate clients and financial institutions by combining teams of sector experts with financial solution specialists to find unique solutions to support their businesses. Within the WB Sectors organization Corporate Sector Coverage (CSC) services a substantial portion of the WB clients. CSC teams are represented in the countries across EMEA (23), Asia Pacific (11) and Americas (2).
Opportunity
In lieu of ambitious growth plans of WB in Italy, we are recruiting a new Head of CSC Italy. This Head will act as ‘player-coach’ to manage the CSC client business in Italy. CSC Italy is part of the Sector Coverage organization, together with other sector teams on the ground, namely Financial Institutions, Real Estate, Energy, Technology, Media & Healthcare. The Head of CSC Italy will report hierarchically and functionally report to the Head of Sector Coverage Italy and will be part of the Sectors management team as well of the extended WB Italy management team.
Job Responsibilities
The Head of CSC Italy is accountable for the commercial and financial performance of the CSC Italy team, in concert with Functional, WB IT and Risk guidelines. You will be responsible for managing a team of approx.. 10 FTEs across different levels of seniority and experience, covering more than 100 Italian headquartered corporates, spanning across several value chains such as Manufacturing, Food & Agri, Services, Construction, Transportation & Logistics.
Commercial & Financial performance of the mentioned client teams:
Accountable for local team P&L, Risk/Return, Portfolio management and Client Experience.
Responsible for sales force effectiveness and commercial ambition of the client teams.
Acts as ‘player-coach’: Relationship Banker for selected client relationships, whilst steering the client interactions across the wider CSC Italy client portfolio and managing the CSC team.
Contribute to the strategy development and execution:
Contribute to WB Italy strategy and execution as part of the local management team;
Contribute to the international commercial strategies, target setting, client marketing and business initiatives, whilst operating within Credit & NFR risk appetite.
Identify and act on commercial growth opportunities, including event driven, advisory, sustainability and outbound business development.
Apply Commercial Excellence in ‘the way of working’.
Coordinate knowledge sharing, deal replication and commercial collaboration:
Develop and coordinate knowledge sharing and cross-fertilization within the CSC Italy teams and across the other Sectors and Product teams within WB Italy.
Foster a culture of client centricity, collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.
Develop sales excellence, talents and a high-performance culture in the client teams.
People perspective for CSC Italy:
Act as people manager for the CSC Italy team.
Ensure x-fertilization by moving talent and giving people stretch roles and assignments.
Identify and take initiatives to optimise the client portfolios and client account allocations.
Ensure a culture of diversity and inclusiveness, in support of growing a profitable business.
Candidate Profile
Experienced banker with at least 15 years of corporate banking experience, with a commercial and team leadership track-record and an international proven experience. Results drive and ambition, with an organized, balanced and collaborative operating style. Leadership and relationship skills to steer, unify and engage the CSC Italy client teams and interact with stakeholders, earning trust and respect of clients, management and colleagues. Robust WB product knowledge, combined with transaction and credit structuring experience. Advanced communication, interpersonal and process management skills. People leadership capabilities to build and stretch diverse and high-performing teams and talents. Established internal WB network; presence of an external / client network is a positive. Ability to synthesis strategic thinking with planning and execution of commercial initiatives. Entrepreneurial skills: seeks constant renewal and has ability to bring an outside-in perspective. Proficiency to handle both Financial and NFR aspects of client franchise (as 1st line of defense). Fluency in Italian and English written and spoken languages.
