The Opportunity:
Relationship Manager for the leading Trade and Commodity Finance (“TCF”) bank in the world. Located in ING’s New York office, this role will ultimately report up to the Head of ING TCF Americas in New York.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
- You originate, structure and execute new commodity finance transactions across the full spectrum of commodities including energy, metals and softs borrowers
- You source new commodity merchant clients for the growing Trade & Commodity Finance (“TCF”) portfolio
- You manage and monitor an existing portfolio of lending exposures ranging from large, global commodity traders to small to mid-size regional merchants.
- You support and expand existing client relationships both in the core lending products (borrowing base, unsecured RCF, transactional lending and payment undertakings) and through “cross-sell” initiatives with Financial Markets, M&A, Advisory and DCM
- You collaborate with -and mentor- junior colleagues
Specific Tasks Include:
- Monitoring market developments and trends, and identifying new commercial opportunities
- Managing deal teams and coaching junior team members
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with other banks active in the market
- Being responsible for all stages of origination and execution of individual transactions, including:
- preparing and presenting transactions to the commercial approval platform
- pitching new transactions to existing and prospective clients
- structuring financing solutions for existing and prospective clients
- commercial negotiations
- learning the receivable discounting product (“payment undertaking”) and facilitate those transactions as it relates to a respective borrower/seller covered in your portfolio
- credit analysis (including preparation of credit applications and annual/quarterly reviews)
- building a rapport and positive dialogue with credit risk management
- executing Admin/MLA function for lead deals
- coordinating with all relevant internal and external stakeholders including cross-sell product teams and Syndications
- legal documentation negotiation and execution process
- coordinating of administrative and monitoring processes
- Facilitating cross-sell of a range of products to clients
- Processing amendment and waiver requests
- Ensuring timely risk ratings and reviews of the existing credit portfolio
- Responsible for customer due diligence and compliance-related tasks
- Support Head of TCF Americas in the implementation of TCF policy in relation to the markets in which TCF operates
- Participating in ING’s in-house training curriculum as well as in external courses and seminars
- Attending industry conferences
Profile
Qualifications / Education:
- You hold a Bachelor's in business administration, finance or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred. Will accept combination of degrees equivalent to a US Bachelor's.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Minimum 10 years of banking industry experience.
- Trade & Commodity Finance experience required but not required.
- Must have experience working with a broad suite of banking products in the daily banking and advisory domains.
- Given requirement to manage global client relationships, experience with and knowledge of ING product offerings and capabilities globally is a key consideration.
- Working on all stages of deal execution including preparing pitchbook presentations, market reads, and greenlight packages.
- Must have the following experience: financial services experience assisting in originating and structuring complex, multi-layer client finance lending transactions; negotiating complex international transactions and/ or conflict arbitrations credit applications; drafting term sheets; and reviewing transaction related legal documentation.
- Should be familiarised with risk factors such as the impact of bank regulation models on capital consumption, market fluctuations (FX, rates, commodity prices) and potential client solutions (hedges, bond and secondary markets, re-insurance, etc.) Understand multiple geography considerations such as market events, trends and industry evolution as part of the financial sponsor conversation and scope.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000
