The Mission

Being a global company having in the strategy the delivery of a global platform for all customers, ING puts a lot of attention on the security processes and requirements. Following a strict set of security rules and processes, ING ensures that all platforms, user access procedures and security related tasks are in line with the security minimum standards.

The Payments & Workflow Solutions area is responsible for E2E delivery of payments and core banking applications for our customers in more than 20 countries from all over the world.

The application is called “International Finance System” (IFS). It is an in-house developed core banking system for Wholesale Banking clientsoperated and maintained out of Belgium. It offers business services to international branches of ING.

The main business services are payment and cash management services, with additional lending and financial market services which are essential to offer a consistent set of services to the international customers.

Your day to day

  • Participation in Feature description (confluence)
  • Outline the logical architecture solution in Functional Analysis (what has to be changed in what module) together with architect, feature engineer, product owner, application leader
  • Co-ordinate and align with PO / developer(s) / OPS / stakeholders to fit changes in release
  • Assist in: testing (test cases & test data preparation), implementation and migration
  • Assist and help stakeholders with UAT testing
  • Analyses the ability to change the application environment and assesses the impact of these changes on the existing environment: application, infrastructure and operations; agrees with developers and representatives of all IT teams involved, 3rd party providers, IT Risk, IT Infrastructure and IT Operations on the functional description prior to Proposal and Implementation;
  • Creates the standard functional design document that should contain the design of the functional solution, assures interaction with programmers and testers in order to obtain correct adaptation of the solution to the existing environment;
  • Gathers feedback and sign-off on the proposed solution from business and operations departments;
  • Maintains the contact with developers and representatives of all IT teams involved, IT Risk, IT Infrastructure and IT Operations during implementation to ensure correct adaptation of the solution into the existing environment;
  • Estimates, creates, updates and executes the system test plan;
  • Provide high quality service & support to customers/co-workers while maintaining a professional standard for new and existing applications;
  • Provides 3rd line support for production incidents.
  • Actively proposes improvements in implementation, standards and other work practices.

What you’ll bring to the team

Must have:

  • Writing pseudocode – solving easy programming problems
  • SQL: comfortable writing medium dificulty queries daily (JOINs, sub queries, GROUP BY, HAVING)
  • Experience in a software development team in either one of these roles: Business Analyst/Tester/Developer
  • English – fluent; communicating with offshore teams daily.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thinking;
  • Experience in an application development team;
  • Experience in working with Microsoft SQL databases and reporting solutions;
  • Organized and documentation skill;

Nice to have:

  • Financial background;
  • Agile methodology
  • Banking/payments SWIFT standard (non-exhaustive list includes: MT103, 101, 202, 202COV, 203, 200, 210 & MX: PACS008, PACS009, PACS004,PACS002, PAIN001, PAIN002, CAMT053).
  • Work experience in banking field is a plus;
  • Professional qualifications / training: applied courses of information systems design, applied courses of database management is a plus;

  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: nice to have Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
