About ING Trade and Commodity Finance (“TCF”):

ING is the #1 TCF bank in the world with teams serving clients from six dedicated commodity finance locations globally. The TCF team is a corporate lending function dedicated to serving clients in the physical commodity trading industry.

ING Americas TCF Team was established in April 2015 for the purpose of serving existing global clients -and growing its presence with domestic clients- in the North American market.  The team remains in growth mode and is looking to expand its HOU and NY presence.

The Houston TCF team is comprised of a mix of TCF industry veterans as well as former Houston based Corporate Energy Bankers (RBL & Midstream). Clients served are primarily energy focused physical commodity traders.

The summer intern will support the Houston and New York TCF teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

  • Assist deal teams in the origination, structuring and execution of new commodity finance transactions across the full spectrum of commodities including energy, metals and softs;
  • Assume key role in handling internal system processing (Vantage) including Grid, FINAN, TSC, Risk Rater and KYC/CDD data gathering and processing;
  • Assist deal team in managing and monitoring an existing portfolio of lending exposures;
  • Assist in execution of TCF US payment undertaking activities, including preparation of limit approval proposals to Risk;
  • Support deal team in efforts to expand existing client relationships both in the core lending products and through “cross-sell” initiatives with Financial Markets, M&A, Advisory, and DCM among others;
  • Prepare and maintain new business marketing materials and aid in prospecting efforts.

Profile (What we’re looking for)

Undergraduate college student, graduating in 2026 (preferred) in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related field, with GPA of 3.3 or higher. Graduate students are also considered for certain roles.

Liberal arts majors interested in careers in finance and banking are welcome to apply.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Prior internship and/or relevant financial experience preferred;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and especially Excel);
  • Financial modelling and credit writing exposure is helpful;
  • VBA and/or programming skill are a plus.

  • Strong multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Flexibility and stress resilience, ability to work under deadlines;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas in a persuasive, organized, and articulate manner.

The salary for this role is $45/hour with the potential for overtime.
