Department Overview:

Financial Markets is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to effectively service the needs of ING’s clients with the products and services they require. Financial Markets aims to have a significant presence in all the major international markets, providing specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

Within Financial Markets our business runs across both Sales and Trading. Financial Markets Trading manages risk and covers flow for our client portfolio by interacting closely with the Sales desk and other market participants.

Products and solutions you will be exposed to:

-    Rates: 

  • First generation options: Cap, Floor & Floored Swap, Swaption, Options combination (Collar, Spreads), Barrier Options (KI / KO)

  • Pre-hedged non-vanilla structure: Deal Contingent Hedges

  • Structured Notes

-    Credit: 

  • Securitization swaps

The London desk, together with Brussels, is the centre of expertise for rate structures for European and Middle-East clients. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities could include some of the following:

  • Day-to-day business: assisting the team with pricing, structuring, executing and booking preliminary work

  • Developing pricing, tracker and signals tools for the desk

  • Following the flash PnL sent End-of-Day to Amsterdam and Risk team

  • Involved in new trade idea: client pitching, deck preparation, team newsletter, weekly, monthly and semi-annual market updates

  • Maintaining spreadsheets and codes used by the team at an EMEA level

  • Working closely with Client Solution Group (CSG) / Sales team on client origination initiatives

Candidate Profile

Qualification/Education

Essential 

  • Progress towards a university degree (at least 2:1) in Finance/Economics or other relevant quantitative field. 

  • Strong A-level results.

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • Highly competent with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.

  • Strong interest in financial markets.

  • Programming skills (familiarity with VBA, SQL, Python, C++ would be a plus).

Personal Competencies

Essential: 

  • Delivery focused with strong analytical skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organised and detail orientated.

  • Energetic, creative, able to work independently and take the initiative to drive value in the Agile way of working. 

  • Ability to work under pressure.
