The team
As part of our Datacenter Networks Squad, you'll join a diverse, international team of network specialists who design and maintain ING's core infrastructure. We operate in an agile environment where collaboration and innovation are key. Our team is responsible for the backbone of ING's digital transformation, working with state-of-the-art technology to support our global cloud platforms. This position is hybrid and requires weekly physical presence at our location in Rotterdam to collaborate with other engineers and have access to on-site facilities.
Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage and expend robust network solutions that power ING's global infrastructure
- Drive automation initiatives using modern scripting and programming techniques
- Lead the design and implementation of high-availability network configurations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
- Ensure the security and performance of critical banking systems
- Pioneer innovative solutions for complex networking challenges

You'll thrive in this role if you have:
- Extensive knowledge of LAN, WAN, and DC environments (CCNA/CCNP experience or equivalent)
- Experience with routing, switching, and firewall products in high-availability settings
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell), familiarity with NetOps tools
- Understanding of DevOps practices and Scrum methodology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Hands on and creative mentality

Stand-by shifts
Business critical systems, such as client processes, payment processes, software applications and websites, require a 24/7 accessibility and availability of several (groups) of employees to act quickly during unforeseen circumstances, such as calamities or incidents. For these (groups) of employees ING have set up a Stand-by regulation. To compensate for the inconvenience of being available at this time, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
- If you are designated by your lead for stand-by shifts to be available for incidents outside of your regular working hours, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
