The IT area of Lease&Comfin is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving our Applications for the Tribe Lease and the Tribe Comfin. As part of ING Business Banking we empower our customers to focus on growing their business with simple and digital Lease and Commercial Finance solutions. As IT CL you will be part of the Management Team of Lease&Comfin (8 persons in total) and also responsible for the overall delivery of our IT Area.

We are looking for an energetic, passionate and hands on “IT chapter lead (ITCL) – Backend Comfin” with a strong IT background with expertise in managing back-end systems and (API) connections to consuming IT parties.

The Team: Commercial Financing (ComFin)

Commercial Finance NL (ComFin) is part of Business Banking and provides working capital to clients based on debtors and inventory (asset based). Characteristic for asset-based lending is that the amount of the loan is primarily based on the value of the customers’ collateral as opposed to financing that is primarily based on the firm and its credit worthiness.  

The factoring market is a rapidly growing market globally, enabled by the rise of new technologies. Commercial Finance has the ambition to expand growth in the SME segment, especially through the application of digital channels.

Commercial Finance NL (ComFin) has started a transformation program Factor10 to future-proof its IT landscape and enable further growth opportunities. This includes renewal of its core IT platform, new product development, deeper integration in ING Business Banking customer- and employee journeys and redesigning ComFin towards digital operations.

The engineering team that you will be responsible for and part of, is located in the Netherlands, India and Manilla. Your official work location will be based out of Bunnik, NL.

Role & Responsibilities

  • You will work as a Java IT Chapter lead to help the ComFin domain implement it's new IT solution.
  • Your focus will be to help integrate the new IT solution within the larger ING target landscape by helping design and build a strategic domain service layer.
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for building & fostering the Java capability within the IT area; supporting across various activities ranging advising the ITAL to recruiting and coaching engineers.
  • Together with the other chapter leads you will look for the best ways to deliver fast and high-quality software whilst ensuring the stability and security of the existing system.
  • You’re continuously looking for improvements, while ensuring a safe and compliant way to run the ComFin IT stack
  • As an IT Chapter Lead you are a senior engineer, and you are seen by colleagues as a go-to person. You have not only a strong drive to constantly keep your own expertise up to speed, but also want to make an active contribution to the development and advancement of the people in your chapter and your field.
  • You are an energetic Chapter Lead with expertise in engineering, people management and affinity with run and maintenance of critical applications. You are a proficient/expert Dev Engineer, and this will be your role in the squad for 60% of your time. The remaining 40% you spend on building up expertise in your chapter and developing your chapter members.
  • The people in your chapter are equally ambitious as you, and you like to transfer your expertise to them and feel satisfaction from coaching (both professionally as personally) less senior chapter members. You are ambitious with what you and your Chapter want to achieve.
  • You stimulate your Chapter members towards continuous improvement of their skills. You take an active role in the yearly planning of required improvements and translating these into a quarterly plan.
  • You are stimulating cross area knowledge sharing and gathering to make sure that best practices are shared and used.

How to succeed

  • Have a Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer science or its equivalent
  • You are an Orange Code role model & lead by example
  • Strong people management and coaching skills (at least two years of experience)
  • You are Inspiring and passionate about creating and fostering a “safe and secure engineering culture”
  • Experienced in business and IT stakeholder management 
  • Understand both the technical parts of the application chain and the customer point of view 
  • You are well experienced in Java, and you enjoy coming up with solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
  • Excellent knowledge of Java 21+, Git, Maven
  • Understanding the inner workings of Spring boot
  • Knowledge of Micro-Services architecture, dispersion services, scalability, container technologies: Docker, OpenShift
  • Experience in CI/CD tooling preferably with Azure DevOps
  • Experience with cross cultural and cross time zone collaboration 
  • Experience in Agile / Scrum / DevOps methodologies
  • Strong aptitude for automation and simplification
  • Good knowledge & experience with Test, Deployment and Monitoring tooling
  • Experience with APM practices and monitoring tools like Prometheus & ELK
  • Familiarity and experience with cloud technologies, infrastructure, Security & networking policies
