Your work environment

Financial Markets (FM) is ING’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

The team

The Execution Sales team is a newly formed centralized multi-asset and multi-client sales team covering the Americas region and providing time zone coverage to ING’s customers in other regions. The team is responsible for supporting daily flow trading activity in products such as FX, commodities, interest rate derivatives, corporate/government bonds, and repo to both Corporate and Institutional clients.  The team plays a vital role in the wider FM sales strategy where we closely cooperate with Origination sales to grow client income and manage the day-to-day trading activity of ING’s existing clients.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking to hire a senior salesperson to act as the head of the newly formed Americas Execution Sales desk, reporting jointly to the regional heads of Corporate and Institutional Sales. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the design of the Execution Sales Desk’s way of working – including product coverage and staffing – in partnership with the regional sales heads and other stakeholders including FM sales management and trading.

Additionally, this person will be the NY based point person for eSales – liaising with the cross-asset class platforms, understanding ING’s electronic workflows and aiding ING’s digitalization strategy. They will have a dotted reporting line to the global heads of eSales.

On a day-to-day basis the selected candidate will be responsible for both covering targeted clients of the Execution Sales desk and managing the existing team of sales professionals.  This will include working closely with both Origination Sales and ING’s wholesale banking relationship managers to ensure seamless client coverage across products and sectors; acting as the regional champion for continued development and promotion of ING’s e-Trading capabilities; and engaging with junior sales talent to develop cross-market knowledge and sales skills.

Who are we looking for?

A colleague with a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead. In other words, you strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a changing and complex environment. You are a collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to deliver creative solutions to problems.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 6+ years of sales desk experience in marketing and executing client trades in one or more FM products (FX, commodities, repo, interest rate derivatives, corporate and government bonds) with either Corporate or Institutional clients; experience with multiple products and/or multiple client types is a plus
  • Direct experience of managing electronic venues: platform relationships, understanding workflow and functionality, strategic oversight of electronic / digital growth.
  • Experience managing junior talent
  • Excellent sales and relationship management skills; proven track record of client management and revenue generation
  • Fluent in English
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain necessary US securities and derivatives licenses within an agreed timeframe

Base Salary range:

Vice President: $230K-$270K

Director: $275K - $300K

The ranges above represent the minimum and maximum salary for the role at the time of posting. Salary will be determined based on the candidate’s job-relevant skills, experience, and performance.
