eFX Java Dev Engineer - Associate

Department Overview:
The implementation of the Broadway application for eFX trading is a strategic project, securing ING’s place in a fast-paced market. This project has strict timelines with an essential focus on delivery.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
As a Dev Engineer in our eFX Digitalisation transformation programme, you will help deliver the key milestones on the eFX Trading platform. The in-house built high-performance pricing systems and interfaces, together with the vendor-built trading/quoting systems, time-series databases and complex event processing engines are key platforms for the real-time low-latency landscape in scope of the growing Financial Markets domain.
Part of a cross-border (London and Bucharest) team you work on the backlog prioritized by a Product Manager. You work with your peers (Quant-developers and dev engineers) and Ops team to ensure all code released to production is robust, secure and bug free, utilising automated testing and peer-to-peer code review techniques.
Delivery and Improvements:
Design and develop new features from scratch and improve existing ones.
Do code reviews, write unit tests, make code refactoring and take care of technical debt.
Align and discuss solutions directly with eTraders.
Work in an agile environment, based on a lot of research, collaboration and "learn from failure" way of working, with highly impactful deliveries.
Have a direct impact on the business improvements through developing and being part of the strategic deliveries.
Provide hands-on support to colleagues when investigating production issues/outages.
Candidate Profile
Qualification/Education
Essential: graduate in Computer Science or related degree.
Experience/Knowledge
Experience: c5 years of industry experience, preferably in Financial Markets
Tech stack/ knowledge:
Essential:
Highly proficient development skills – core server-side Java, multi-threading
Strong design (patterns), algorithms and data structures knowledge
Experience with the entire software development life cycle
Experience with building services from scratch and developing on top of existing components
Understanding of Continuous Delivery concepts. Interactions with tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Maven
Nice to have:
Experience with messaging technologies and protocols
Experience in optimising software for performance
Banking/Financial Markets products/processes knowledge (FX Products, FIX protocol)
Flexibility in development technologies. Expected to work with different technologies and languages (KDB, Proprietary Software, Java, Python)
Experience with quant development, pricing algorithms or trading strategies.
