Job Profile Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join ING’s Structured Export Finance (“SEF”) team as part of Wholesale Bank (“WB”) Lending. The SEF global network consists of units located in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, Singapore, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo with a total staff of approximately 50 professionals. As a Director for the SEF team in Singapore, you will be responsible for driving and managing i)) Sinosure (Chinese ECA) covered transactions globally and ii) SEF transactions across Asia-Pacific region. You will be maintaining close cooperation with ING’s global SEF platform, Country Management, and Sector organization across Energy; TMT & Healthcare; Metals & Mining, Food & Agri; and Transportation, Logistics and Automotive, etc. This is a mid to senior level lending professional role within the front office.
The position involves regular contact with clients, prospects, banks, technical and legal advisors and frequent cooperation with internal departments such as Sector and Specialised Lending Transaction Management, Sector Portfolio Management, Corporate Sector Lending, Credit Risk Management, Legal, and Deal Execution, as well as other products such as Loan Distribution Group, Financial Markets and Transaction Services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ECA/MFI financing, solid understanding of the Asia Pacific market, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ECAs, and other financial institutions.
Job Responsibilities:
Structuring and execution of export finance mandates
- Advise clients on eligibility and feasibility of transactions, develop deal structures, prepare client pitches and presentations, run pricing models and provide benchmarks, and negotiate financing proposals to close ECA mandates (single and / or multi sourced).
- Prepare and negotiate term sheet with clients / banks / loan syndicate.
- Perform high-level financial and credit analysis on existing and prospect clients, review due diligence material, and processing credit approval packages.
- Negotiate and review legal documentation and validate key terms & conditions to ensure these reflect the credit approval conditions and otherwise balance risk appetite in an optimal way.
- Oversee and coordinate end-to-end execution towards timely deal closing including final CPs and obtaining the final loan documents.
- Interface with loan operations, treasury and the lending center of excellence units to verify limit availability, and compliance with internal policies.
Relationship Management, Origination and Business Development
- Market ING (SEF) capabilities to clients in designated Asian markets and the origination of new transaction opportunities through different sources.
- Prepare presentations and lead meetings with clients.
- Work in close co-operation with the global SEF teams, sector teams in Asia and regional and in-country relationship management.
- Present new transaction opportunities to senior management and / or in Green Light Committee.
- Develop new business / product ideas and opportunities.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with regional players and counterparties, including Suppliers, ECAs, Multilaterals, banks, lawyers and consultants.
- Identify and monitor important market developments in the region.
- Represent SEF and ING internally as well as externally (conferences, bankers’ meetings etc.).
Risk and portfolio management
- Stay current on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly.
- Enhance internal processes, suggesting efficiency improvements.
People and knowledge management
- Cultivate a cohesive team environment by consistently providing guidance, mentorship and training to support and develop new and junior team members.
- Support lending related projects, policy changes, etc. as part of change management, where required under relevant WB transformation/change strategies.
What we're looking for:
Qualifications / Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/economics/accounting/business or a related field; Master’s or CFA is a plus.
Experience / Knowledge:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in originating and executing complex, cross border transactions in Export Finance (e.g. Sinosure-covered lending) / Structured Finance / Project Finance / Asset Finance.
- Proven experience in originating and executing complex, cross border transactions.
- Well-developed credit skills including financial modelling, credit analysis and risk assessment, and understanding of Asia Pacific loan and debt capital markets.
- Significant experience in one or several Sectors in which ING is active.
