ING in Asia Pacific
In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
ING offers both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. ING’s regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand.
Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.
What does the Research Team do in ING?
We are small team of four economists and one commodities strategist located across the region in Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila and Seoul. The Asia Pacific Team is part of a bigger Global Research Department that has around 80 employees – mostly in Western Europe, but also CEE countries, and the US.
We provide support to our regional clients through presentations, published research and ad hoc requests. We have a strong media presence and are regularly on business TV and radio.
We support our local colleagues through forecasts, country deep dives, risk assessments, and data analysis. We support the global team by providing input to flagship publications.
What would you be doing?
Your job will be to help the economists and strategists by assisting them with data management, publication of reports, responding to regular requests for forecasts, and fielding requests from journalists and consensus publishers.
What qualities, skills and other criteria are we looking for?
We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria:
- You should be enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s program
- You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Korean (Japanese preferred but not essential).
- You should have a good knowledge of MS office package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Statistical software.
- You should have legal work rights in the country of internship.
- You will be self-motivated and interested in the world of economics and markets in which the team works.
- You will be innovative and look for ways to streamline the recurring work the team faces and have the confidence to encourage your colleagues to meet deadlines.
