You will be responsible for  delivery of solutions which meet the needs of our internal and external customers.


As a Lead Software Engineer you will at time function in one of our Scrum teams and also work in a
crosscutting role driving advancement in our engineering practices. You will lead by example and coach
others to develop and automate the testing of robust, adaptable code that is always production- ready.
Through collaboration with other developers your work will improve the digital banking experience for our
customers and our staff.


As a leader in the software engineering community, you will play a key role in the continual advancement of our engineering practices through practices such as Agile and Continuous Delivery but you will also remain highly aware of industry trends and bring the best of the global engineering practices to ING


What you’ll do
 

  • Lead a team of .net and Java developers supporting the Enterprise tribe on various initiatives.

  • Write code that is easy to read, highly maintainable, and written with automated testing in mind while ensuring quality and ownership for deliverables, set and improve standards according to ING’s agile way of working

  • Ensure the effective documentation and communication of knowledge, system and process

  • Manage multiple stakeholders and teams in a collaborative and results driven manner

  • Be an advocate for the adoption of Agile / Scrum practice, methodologies, and attitudes. Role model Agile leadership behaviours

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ Years of Software Engineering expertise with .Net and Java

  • 2+ years' technical leadership experience in delivery software projects, familiar with Angular or React is good to have (At ING, we do not use Angular or React, we use Web Components).

  • Deep understanding of tools across full software delivery lifecycle (test, mocking, source control (Git), CI, work tracking, defect management)

  • Expertise in building RESTful and SOAP web services

  • Ability to operate independently and provide technical leadership in ambiguity.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills that ensure ability to influence and educate non-technical staff
