Transaction Services (TS) is one of ING Wholesale Banking's (WB) main business lines. We offer a suite of WB products and services to corporate and institutional clients. We are a significant contributor to the growth and profitability of the WB. Our strategy is aimed at ensuring that we continue to support sustained growth for the WB by delivering competitive and relevant TS products.

Product Management PCM (Payments & Cash Management) is a newly created department within WB/TS. The purpose of the PM PCM is to unlock existing business potential and activate new client/market opportunities. The focus is on executing a strong commercial strategy aiming at stable and sustainable fee income flows. The Product Management PCM department makes a difference for our clients by offering best in class and fit-for purpose products and services while continuously improving our existing proposition as well as developing new products for our client base. Within the wider PCM department the Product Management team for Payments & Collections is responsible for the performance of all  Payments & Collections products and services as offered to ING clients across WB’s European network.

Product Management Payments & Cash Management is responsible for the commercial performance of the payments & cash management products (for both corporates and FI’s). The team is responsible for optimizing the commercial performance of the product suite and formulating a long-term view on how we evolve our product proposition to remain relevant to our clients over time in a highly competitive environment. That means taking market developments (informed by the sales organization and external input) and translating those into concrete requirements for product development and enhancements, as well as formulating a view on how the organization will commercialize the enhanced product proposition.

As Product manager Payments & Collections you will be responsible for the performance of ING WB’s Payments & Collections propositions and its related products and channels, such as SEPA, International Payments, Transactional FX, Channels, Reporting and Open Banking. You will define and execute the commercial strategy for products and services in your scope, contributing to WB’s profitable growth and the P&C proposition that empowers Wholesale Banking clients with superior receivables and payables solutions.

As a Product Manager:

  • You will report to the Head of Product Management Payments & Collections.

  • You focus on commercial management, product management and marketing and apply your experience to target audiences in the fast-changing context of Payments and Collections.

  • You own one or more products of the following suite: SEPA (a.o. SCT, SDD, SCTinst, R2P), International Payments (Swift), Transactional FX, Channels, Reporting (formats), Open Banking.

  • You represent the voice of the customer, have a strong vision on how to attract consumers and focus on continuously improving the product performance.

  • You take a pan-European view on the industry developments affecting your product, advocate the strategic direction for your product internally and externally, underscoring ING’s thought leadership in the market.

  • You are part of the European network, stimulate cross-border collaboration and alignment with the parties that need to contribute to your specific business product area.

  • You will align with TS Sales, Client Services and the Sector organization and support during client pitches.

Your key responsibilities

  • You are a key player in determining the strategic direction of Payments and Collections within ING Wholesale Banking, supporting the head of Product Management P&C to set the right priorities. 

  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day product performance and the P&L of our P&C products which is reflected in your daily work and priority setting.

  • You will be responsible for product strategy, proposition, roadmap, design, commercial execution and life cycle.

  • You will be responsible for creating & tracking business cases. Including identifying the data relevant for monitoring product performance, running business cases, define Dynamic Plan (multiyear budgeting) and other relevant activities.

  • You define business requirements for the development of products and services in scope of Payments and Collections as input for Delivery Management.

  • You will be responsible for marketing, communication & customer satisfaction.

  • You will be responsible for market, competition & customer research.

  • You will contribute to TS’ sustainable performance, and you identify opportunities to better serve and delight our customers in daily collaboration with Sales, Client Services and the Sector organization.

  • You will be responsible for monitoring and updating policies and governance related to your products.

  • You will be responsible for non-financial risk management (i.e., Product Approval Review Process, issues management, audits, key control testing etc.)

  • You will be responsible for the risks related to your products and work with Risk, Compliance, and Legal stakeholders, to make sure our products and services comply with regulations and policies.

Regarding the newly established Delivery Management (DM) organization, as a PM:

  • You are responsible for aligning with DM organization and ensuring successful delivery of your product requirements.

  • You define the business requirements and translate them to the DM CJE with the aim of developing and maintaining products and services. As a result, you also play a supporting role in the QBR process.

  • You share responsibility with the DM organization in ensuring our license to operate by secure and flawless 24/7 operations.

We are looking for

  • A skilled (commercial) Product Manager with expert knowledge in the field of payments and in particular in one or more of the following areas: SEPA (a.o. SCT, SDD, SCTinst, R2P), International Payments (Swift), Transactional FX, Channels, Reporting (formats), Open Banking.

  • An entrepreneur that combines client focus with commercial and marketing power.

  • Your ability and drive to take ownership and steer the (product) strategy implementation with an eye on the long-term perspective and managing risk prudently.

  • A colleague with analytical skills who takes decisions based on data and facts. Ability to translate complex content and financial data into well-structured strategy decisions, business cases and pivotal strategic proposals for senior management endorsement.

  • Strong resilience: your ability to navigate through ambiguity and simplify complexity.

  • A pro-active, creative and an out-of-the box thinker.

  • An open and transparent communicator.

  • An energetic, motivating person who can work as part of a team but also independently. A colleague who displays all aspects of ING’s Orange behavior

Proven track record and technical skills

  • Master's or bachelor's degree. A minimum 5 years of working experience within the Payments domain, either as a product manager, strategy consultant, sales/business development for one or more products in the PCM scope, In particular SEPA (a.o. SCT, SDD, SCTinst, R2P), International Payments (Swift), Transactional FX, Channels, Reporting (formats), Open Banking.

  • Experience in commercial product management, marketing and/or client experience.

  • Solid knowledge of payments in corporate clients context, the competitive landscape and industry developments

  • Customer Market Analysis

  • Financial acumen

  • Stakeholder management skills in complex, international ecosystems

  • Business Analysis & Insight

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, Dutch is an advantage.
