ING NL’s Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Tribe is looking for an energetic and innovative Expert Lead Operational Risk Management (ORM).
As an Expert Lead ORM Business Banking&Staff Departments (BB&SD) you will play an important role in implementing the new NFR strategy happen and support in creating a data driven, risk-based and effective and efficient NFR function.
You challenge and advise the management of ING NL on NFR risks. This role encompasses servicing the business lines of ING NL Business Banking, CFO, CRO, HR and Communications. Together with your team, you will be directly responsible for the supporting and challenging of these business lines in effectively and efficiently managing their non-financial risks by increasingly using data-driven solutions.
You steer on the reporting of NFR risks and controls by the 1st line and present the NFR Dashboard to senior management and have the ability and power to escalate if activities performed within the business domains in your scope are presenting risks outside ING’s NFR risk appetite. You set the standards for your team and take responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in the field of the NFR expertise.
The Team
You will be managing the ORM BB&SD team, which is part of the NFR Tribe within ING NL Risk. The team consist of 7 ORM specialists who work in an agile way together with the IT Risk specialists of the IRM team, and with the Data Analysts and NFR colleagues of the Integrated NFR team within the NFR Tribe.
All Risk management activities will be performed in close alignment with risk specialists from the Group Risk teams. You will report to the Head of NFR ING NL.
Roles and responsibilities
As Expert Lead ORM BB&SD you
are hierarchically responsible for effectively steering and managing the ORM BB&SD team within ING NL NFR
will build the required capabilities for his/her area to successfully execute the NFR risk strategy and roadmap. You will take ownership of the team with an entrepreneurial mindset, and will develop the vision, define the roadmap, and maximize the added value of risk management in your area.
are responsible for the NFR risk management in your scope and work proactively with stakeholders and management of ING NL Business Banking and Staff Departments, supporting them in assuring their first line responsibilities under the NFR framework, through challenge and advice.
challenge and advise (local) business on NFR risk exposure and adequacy of NFR risk management in relation to ING NL products and processes and assure the business units under your control are either within risk appetite or have clear paths to green in place and follow all NFR group policies and procedures or have clearly documented and approved waivers and deviations in place.
establish mandatory policies, and/or written mandatory guidance on the appropriate implementation and embedment of NFR-related requirements
represent NFR in relevant global/corporate committees and governance processes (RCSAs, Events, Scenarios, Product Approvals, Projects etc.)
are part of the NFR Leadership Team and contribute to designing the broader NFR strategy, and pro-actively driving the execution of NFRs new strategy and overall NFR tribe management
proactively support your local colleagues “on the ground” and acting as the center of expertise for ING NL Business Banking and Staff Departments.
ensure the NFR ING NLBB&SD team works efficiently together with other teams in and outside NFR including 1LoD stakeholders.
Support and inform regulators like AFM, ACM, DNB, ECB and the external accountant

Your technical skills and track record
You have relevant knowledge of NFR framework tools (RCSAs, Events, Scenarios, Projects) and preferably BB products (Lending, Payments, Business Customer Daily banking processes) and Staff Departments activities (HR, Finance and Risk)
You act as the organizational authority and established expert on interpreting and applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies within your segment and business line.
You act with expertise as the organization's authority on using clear and effective verbal communications skills to express ideas, request actions and formulate plans or policies.
You act fact-based and have proven track record to deliver a data-driven environment and mindset to create an impactful risk-based NFR management.
You use your knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding others on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and operations.
You have excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work across risk areas.
You have a successful track record in managing in- and external stakeholders up to senior management level, as well as auditors and regulators
You have an excellent level of English (verbal/written)
You have a university degree or equivalent.
You are an experienced senior manager with >10 years of relevant experience.
