A day in the life of a Sales & Services Officer

At ING Belgium, we are fully committed to digital solutions and technological innovations to enable our customers to manage their banking themselves, but we also want to continue to build a close relationship with them through personalised advice. As Sales & Services Officer, you have a key role in this context. On the one hand, you will support Guided Bankers and Relationship Managers who manage a portfolio of customers by following up the various operational, commercial, and administrative tasks associated with these relationships. On the other hand, you act as contact person between these bankers and their customers. Together, you will thus build a relationship of trust with the customers.

Operational tasks

  • Guarantee an excellent level of service to customers and act as their first point of contact for all operational matters.
  • Handle and manage standard or more complex requests in various fields, request the necessary data, perform checks, generate the documents to be delivered, obtain the necessary (commercial) agreements, etc.
  • Always promoting our digital solutions first and showing customers how to use them or guiding them to another solution.

Commercial tasks

  • Support the Guided Bankers and Relationship Managers with the preparation and planning of visits, prospecting, PR events and product offers, and attend various occasions together with them.
  • Proactively approach customers or prospects, support the smooth running of product campaigns (commercial promotions, customer acquisition or retention, etc.).
Identify customers' needs, and advise/sell them standard or more complex products and services.
  • Analyse the customer profile, identify commercial opportunities and potential risks, and communicate them to the Guided Bankers and Relationship Manager

Administrative tasks

  • Perform administrative tasks arising from own actions or in support of the Guided Bankers and Relationship Managers.
  • Keep systems and files up-to-date and ensure data quality.
Support the Business Centre/Hub regarding administration (agenda management, meeting preparation, leave planning, building management, etc.).
  • Play an active role in the ‘Customer Due Diligence’ KYC processes and collection of necessary information.
  • Train new colleagues among the Sales & Services Officers and the Guided Bankers/Relationship Managers (in the latter case, the training covers the tools and processes).

You are probably the colleague we are looking for!

You have a talent for taking on something and making it happen. You are enthusiastic about helping others be successful and you have a knack for always being one step ahead. You strive to bring fresh ideas and accept challenges in a rapidly changing and complex environment. You are a person who always collaborates, listens, and invests in others to achieve common goals. You enjoy challenging the status quo and are keen to propose creative solutions to problems.

As a Sales & Service Officer, you should also preferably:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience.
  • Have an extensive and thorough knowledge of (standard and more complex) banking products and services for professionals and companies.
  • Speak fluent Dutch, with knowledge of French and English a plus.
  • Be commercially minded and able to deal with customers (internal or external) professionally and diplomatically and propose the right solutions.
  • Being able to organise your work optimally and independently to divide your time efficiently between the different areas of activity.
  • Ensure effective communication and consultation with the Guided Bankers and Relationship Managers, but also with product specialists, service departments within the bank, etc.

What we offer you

You will work 37 hours/week accompanied by excellent working conditions, a unique offer and a range of flexible remuneration and other benefits such as:

  • A varied and challenging job with clear goals and opportunities for advancement within the organisation.
  • Guidance and advice to invest in your personal and professional development.
  • Continuous coaching by your manager and continuous learning from colleagues thanks to continuous collaboration.
  • An informal, dynamic environment with innovative colleagues who support your efforts.
  • A progressive and flexible way of working where new ideas are valued.
  • An organisation that makes not only its customers, but also its people feel WOW.
