ING Wholesale banking (ING’s corporate and investment banking division)
ING Wholesale Banking helps large corporates and financial institutions to gain access to capital in support of their success and further growth. Wholesale Banking is a dynamic part of ING which does business with international customers across the entire spectrum of sectors. We provide our clients with specialised lending, tailored corporate finance, debt and equity market solutions, sustainable finance solutions, payments & cash management and trade and treasury services.
ING International Talent Program /Young graduate program – Wholesale Banking track
The 2 years traineeship prepares talented graduates for a future role in the world of corporate and investment banking within ING. It consists of two rotations in Brussels and one rotation abroad, followed by a permanent position at ING Brussels.
Two rotations in Brussels: 2 x 6 months
During your two rotations in Brussels, you will have an opportunity to work in several areas of Wholesale Banking, such as Sector coverage (with sectors such as Real Estate or Energy see more at www.ingwb.com), Lending, Sustainable Finance, Transaction Services, Working Capital Solutions, Capital Markets Advisory and Financial Markets. This experience will give you a global view on the services that ING Wholesale Banking can provide to the clients, but also how synergies are being created between these teams.
From the very beginning, you are in the lead of shaping your path at ING – before officially starting the program, you will contact managers of the teams of your interest, to decide what is the best place for you to start the program. Don’t worry, by then you will already be in touch not only with your Talent Manager, but also your Buddy – former trainee, that has already completed the rotations, and is there to advise you as well as have received an overview of the teams having hosting rotations.
One rotation abroad: 3 to 6 months
During your third rotation, you have the opportunity to participate in the daily work of a Wholesale Banking team abroad (such as New York, London, Singapore, Sydney, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam and many more).
Rotations: a pool concept
You will be offered the possibility to do two rotations within 3 pools across Sector coverage, Lending and Transaction Services/Working Capital Solutions, and a 3rd rotation in a team of your choice.
Your first permanent role: specializing in your own field
Once you have completed all your rotations, your permanent role will allow you to go deeper in a specific field. This way, you will start specializing in a chosen area, by continuously expanding your knowledge and sharpening your skills.
Shape your own career
During the traineeship, we provide you with opportunities, tools and possibilities, but it is up to you to use them effectively to make your traineeship a success. As a trainee, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and you are proactive throughout your traineeship. We encourage you to develop and share your own vision.
You will also have an opportunity to do one of your rotations in a different track, in order to give you a chance to gain experience and have an impact on our customers, products or processes from a different angle. For example, as a trainee in the Wholesale Banking track, you can do one of your rotations in the Risk or Retail tracks.
General and specialized training
Regardless of the path chosen within the ING International Talent Program, all of our trainees participate in international learning events where they acquire knowledge on core banking activities (such as the role, balance sheet or financing of the bank, IT processes, risk management, etc.). These courses also focus on soft skills such as stakeholder management, efficient time management and presentation skills.
The Wholesale Banking track also includes specialized courses such as CFA I + II, ING Value Chain, Asset and Liability Management Basics, Documentation of Deals, Transaction Services, FM Products and Cross-selling and Compliance.
