The team has established new product capability with high quality representation on the ground which now includes Financial Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Syndications, Corporate Sector Lending, Transaction Services, Asset Securitisation, Sustainable Finance and Acquisition Finance and enhanced sector expertise and scale.

Andrew said: “Our objective has been to leverage the strength of the ING brand in Australia and specifically within the Wholesale Bank to build on the core lending businesses we had established, which initially had a focus on Real Estate Finance, Infrastructure and Energy into a holistic Wholesale Banking platform across multiple sectors.”

For Andrew and the team, success isn’t measured purely through financial metrics, but also through the strength of client relationships and profitable, sustainable market penetration.

“Client feedback has been clear, they want us to play to our strengths, form deep and trusted partnerships and execute to a very high and consistent standard - we now have the client-focused team and investment to achieve this”.

The Australian team form an increasingly important part of ING’s broader Wholesale Banking growth ambitions in the APAC region, led by CEO Anju Abrol in Singapore, and ING Australia’s existing ‘Universal Bank’ platform, which services key segments including Retail and Wholesale Banking, led by CEO Melanie Evans.

Recent senior promotions in the Wholesale Banking team include Christian Bailey to the newly created role of Managing Director, Head of Sectors and Coverage Australia, looking after ING’s relationship management business, and Sam Terko, Managing Director, Head of Energy Sector.
