IT Area Lead - Data Delivery plays a pivotal role within the technology department of ING Australia, reporting directly to the Head of Technology Data Analytics and AI. This leadership position encompasses the oversight and management of the entire technology stack within the designated domains under their purview. As a key member of the extended technology leadership team, the IT Area Lead Data Delivery is entrusted with managing change and run teams across multiple domains and overseeing complex projects with moderate to high impact. In this dynamic role, the IT Area Lead Data Delivery is required to be capable of long-term strategic planning and work collaboratively with their business counterpart (Tribe Leads) to develop and execute a technology strategy and roadmap that is aligned with overarching business goals. They are effective in managing various stakeholders at different levels including EXCO members and will assist the Heads of Technology in managing partnerships both within the organisation as well as with external vendors.

By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration, the IT Area Lead inspires teams to innovate, adapt to evolving market trends, and exceed performance expectations.

What you’ll do …

  • Define domain data strategy, conduct risk assessments, develop roadmaps and priorities.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance issues within the data / technology environment.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to understand their priorities, challenges, and requirements.
  • Lead implementation of the strategy and navigate complex issues, challenges, and opportunities, while ensuring integration with wider functional strategy.
  • Implement robust quality assurance processes and controls to ensure that technology deliverables meet established standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Build strong teams, partnerships and capabilities that can apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals, innovate, and deliver on the tribe & technology strategy.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members to foster their growth and development.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and strategic partners to ensure alignment with business objectives and delivery of high-quality products and services.

What we’re looking for…

  • Senior managerial experience in planning, managing, and organising resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a technical delivery team with equivalent scale, scope, and complexity within the specialised area.
  • Proven experience in banking / investment technology strategy development and execution in alignment with architecture and other IT functions.
  • Experienced People Leader with record of developing engineering capability and effectiveness in a team.
  • Experience in management & negotiation of large vendor commercial contracts (>$10m).
  • Demonstrated experience working agile and with Devops team tooling, technology risk frameworks, project management and delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated Experience in Public Cloud technologies and application migration.
